John Homer Weidemeyer, age 103 of Port Richey, FL, went home to the Lord on Saturday, January 4, 2020 with his daughter Betty at his side at Bayonet Point Regional Medical Center.
He was born on August 19, 1916 in Hebbville, Baltimore County, Maryland to Monterey Ferdinand and Annie E. Weidemeyer (nee Reiblich). In his youth, he worked with his father in sawmills and raising livestock. He took over the Laurel Lumber Company in Hebbville after his father died, and supplied all types of lumber, building materials and hardware until the company closed in 2004. He joined the Masons Freedoms Lodge No. 112 in 1947 and remained a member for 72 years. He enjoyed fishing of all types and loved to be on the water. He moved to Beacon Woods, Florida in 1985, and built his home on Lake Christina Lake, Port Richey in 1987 where he remained until his passing.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 75 years Eleanor Weidemeyer (nee Doing), his eldest daughter E. Anne Papadopoulos, and his eldest grandchild Randy DeVilbiss. He is survived by his daughter E. Ruth Kelbel; his daughter Betty C. DeVilbiss; his three grandchildren Bonnie Clark, John Kelbel, Jr. and Christine Trousdale; and his five great-grandchildren Anna Clark, Mary Cairns, William Clark, Geoffrey Trousdale and Erin Trousdale.
Viewing will be at Faith Baptist Church, 9230 Ridge Road, New Port Richey, FL 34654 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10th, with a service immediately following beginning at 11:00 a.m.
There will be additional services at Grace Bible Baptist Church, Catonsville, Maryland, with interment at Lorraine Park Cemetery, Woodlawn, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church at the above address.
