Donald Prichard

August 13, 1952~November 06, 2020

Donald Prichard, 68, of New Port Richey, FL passed away on November 6, 2020 from Covid complications. He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on August 13, 1952 and graduated from Central Michigan University where he received both his B.S. and Master’s degrees. He taught for 40 years, most of those locally at Dunedin and East Lake High Schools. He was the department head of science at East Lake, where he taught Chemistry and Biology and told the corniest jokes ever.

He was known for his dry sense of humor and his ability to keep any plant alive. He had a passion for nature and loved traveling, especially with his family. His most recent trip took him back to Gatlinburg, TN, where he had so many inspiring memories. He appreciated homemade pretzels, ice cream, a good chocolate chip cookie, Pepsi and a U of M win. Go Blue!

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Margie, his three kids Kasey (Ryan), Kyle (Christine) and Kenny (Sabrina) and five beautiful grandchildren, as well as his sister Paula.

A celebration of life we be held on November 29, 2020 at Starkey Park. Due to Covid, only family and good, close personal friends are invited. Please RSVP to [email protected]. Don requested a memory book be made for him in his final wishes. Please reach out to his daughter Kasey at the email (above) for instructions on a page for his book. We would LOVE to hear from ANYONE who was touched by Don.

In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in Don’s name to National Parks, which he loved visiting. Please visit: https://give.nationalparks.org/site/TR?px=2936030&pg=personal&fr_id=1070

He was a great mentor. Someone that I have a large amount of respect for. He loved to banter and was always curious about the world. He found pleasure in details that many often overlook. His tolerance and patience was only rivaled by the best of saints. If he could help ME through chemistry class in high school, I am convinced he could do anything. He will be missed. I feel blessed that I had the opportunity to have such a great teacher in my life. My condolences to the family.
