Born in Pittsburgh, PA and raised there, was the daughter of Greek immigrants Nicholas and Efterpi (Milidonis) Christ (shortened from Christodulakos), founders and owners of Chris Candies in Pittsburgh. After graduating high school she worked as a bookkeeper for Mansmann’s Department Store.

September 1945 she married Peter Chergotis Jr. (WWII Navy Veteran), and soon after moved to New Jersey where she raised her surviving children Catherine and Dean. Surviving grandchildren, Jenna Ribarich, Chloe Coe (Kristopher Curtis), Nicholas, and Elena Julia.

Julia and Peter were founding members of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Westfield, NJ. Julia was the first chairman and also cochair of the annual Greek Festival for 11 years. Julia was the recipient of the Medal of Saint Paul, the highest honor of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

Julia and Peter retired to Florida in 1983…where they beat the system. Julia was an exceptional cook and homemaker, loved having company. Many travels to Greece, United Kingdom, Alaska and throughout the USA. After a private service Julia will be laid to rest with her husband in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
