Hughes, Dick Ivan, age 87 beloved husband of Valerie Hughes, died unexpectedly on March 31st, 2021 at home.
Dick was an avid athlete; He started at Miller Grove, West Milton Ohio as a lifeguard in his late teens. He loved to water ski, scuba dive, and ride his quarter horse Sweets, and in quiet times liked to do leatherwork.
He served his country in the Army overseas in France and the National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents Minnie and Glen Hughes West Milton Ohio, His son Michael, his brothers Jerry and Dale Hughes.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Valerie Ann, his son Robert (Lisa) Hughes, and his sister Loreeta Yates, Medina, NY; Sister in law’s, Sondra Hughes, West Milton, OH. Pamela and her husband, Terry, also, his niece Christine Plaix in Sarnia, Ont, Canada. His cousin, Elizabeth Weaver, Wiltshire, England.; Grandchildren, Ann (Brian) King, PA., Amanda (Michael) Casson, Pensacola, FL. Grandsons Mathew Hughes, New Port Richey, Mark Hughes, Perry F. Brandon (Layla) Hughes, of Colorado Springs. Great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Andrew, and Rebekah King., Emily and Ethan Casson; nephew, David Yates; nieces, Tina, Brenda, and Lisa, Medina, NY.; His cousin, Sam Grim and wife Pat, little Sam, Terry and husband, Michael Coate, West Milton, OH.; He also left behind his beloved dachshund, Libby.
Cremation has taken place; the family will hold a graveside service at a later date in West Milton, Ohio.
