Kay “Katina” Tsakizis

November 29, 1931~May 14, 2021

Kay Tsakizis, 89, of Tarpon Springs, Florida, passed away on May 14, 2021. She is survived by her children, Noreen Bilderback, George Tsakizis, Faye Bryan; grandchildren, James and Katina.

Katina (Kay) understood the grace and powerful presence of a forgiving, loving, and nurturing Christ. Her journey in life from caring for children in foster care to her warming presence as a Community Member, Friend, Thea, Grandmother, and Mother enveloped her belief in herself as a Servant of the Lord. Her life story would fill more than one book. However, it is not her story that remains her legacy; its how she treated people regardless of those life events. She exampled the teachings of the Sermon on the Mount in her daily life. One verse that may describe her best is: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Mt 5.8). She saw God in everything, even through tragedy she would say, “Why not us?”. To her, “God was so Good” that he walked with us always and it was us who needed stronger faith in that promise. To her, we should “love one another” (John 13:34-35) and find a way to be a plus in someone’s life. We will miss her laughter, her wonderful cooking, and her wisdom, but we are left with an enduring example of resilience, acceptance, and loving grace.

My heart is broken, as I look back at years of many happy memories, gatherings and the love and warmth Kay shared with me. I’m honored to have been a part of her and her warm hearted family.
