John M Webber of New Port Richey FL passed away suddenly on August 31st, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy, son Grant; daughter Karen Stromberg; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Griffin; his beloved niece Caroline Webber, and nephew Andy Webber; as well as numerous cousins.
John was a commercial pilot for 34 years, beginning his flying career at Shelbyville County Airport in Indiana while attending Indiana University in Bloomington IN. He worked to earn his private and multi-engine ratings after which his friend and soon-to-be flight instructor, Roger Newman, was instrumental in helping John secure his job at Lake Central Airlines, launching a career that would span 34 years. At Lake Central he met his best friend Steve Javaras, beginning a friendship that has lasted 55 years.
John’s career included time as First Officer, Flight Engineer, Captain, Check Airman, and Simulator Instructor. John loved flying and always said he never went to work a day in his life. Throughout his career John was the ultimate professional who approached every task with an outstanding work ethic taking pride in helping train other pilots to the same high standards he held. In his personal life he always was a kind, generous, loving man who is gone too soon.
John is especially proud of his son Grant, who is now serving in the US Navy.
John, your wings were ready, but our hearts were not…
