Dimitrios Paizis

October 26, 1945~September 02, 2021
Dimitrios (Jimmy) Paizis, Husband, Father, and Grandfather was born October 25, 1945, in Kioni, Ithaca, Greece.  He died surrounded by family in Tarpon Springs, Florida on September 2, 2021, at the age of 75.
He grew up learning woodwork from his Father and his Grandfather.  After coming to New York he worked as a general contractor running his own successful business that built many restaurants and diners for the Greek community.  In New York, he met his future wife Teresa.  After his marriage, he became interested in oil painting.  He painted landscapes, portraits, and abstract designs. Looking for an artistic style of his own, he leaned on his early training as a carpenter.  He began seeing things in terms of wood and developed his technique through his love of wood and wood shavings.  He had two art exhibits in New York and two in Florida.  At present two of his paintings are on display on the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs.
Jimmy loved life and the beauty he saw in the world.  He believed art should please the eye and puzzle the mind.  He loved connecting with people and sharing stories.  Always wanting to leave things better than he found them, he was a big believer in working hard, being creative, and taking care of one another, especially his family and friends.
He leaves behind his loving wife Teresa; his three beautiful daughters – Kassiane, Rosemary, and Danielle; his eight amazing grandchildren – Alessandro, Logan, Niki, Brady, Alexa, Regan, Zoe, and Theo; and his collection of paintings.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
