Kiriakoula “Kiki” Koskoletos Lymberopoulos was born in Bouzi Korinth Greece August 16. 1928 to Efthemios and Konstantina Koskoletos; One of (5) children, she helped her family by herding sheep and dreamed of being a singer and a dancer.
She survived WWII and watched her future husband, Demetrios Lymberopoulos, get beat by the Nazis.
Kiki and Demetrios married July 18, 1954, and moved from Bouzi to Vohaikon (a much bigger village) to raise their family.
January 1969, Kiriakoula at age 41, took the biggest risk and moved her family to the US, with literally only the clothes on their backs. Without knowing a word of English within only 2 years after immigrating to the US she and her husband became homeowners.
Kiki worked as a seamstress, earning minimum wage for 23 years. She and her husband moved back to their beloved Greece upon retirement. Even though she only had a 4th-grade education, she became a real estate wiz and bought and sold properties in Greece several times always making a profit.
A few years after her husband’s death, Kiki decided to move back to the US in order to be closer to her children. Tarpon Springs became her home. Kiki never learned to drive and not knowing the language it wasn’t easy for her but she was smart and strong. She lived by herself, with no help, until her death. She became a fixture in her community and everyone knew the strong, amazing, best dressed, little Greek lady. She loved gardening and was a fantastic cook! She got great pleasure cooking for her family; her spanakopita is out of this world! Her friend Lena Schulte has been an angel and helped any time she called.
Kiki is survived by her children, Maria Lymberopoulos, Dina Hartley (Greg), Manolis Lymberopoulos (Lesa, who affectionately called her “Mama Kiki”). She was predeceased by her husband and grandson, Jeffrey.
She will be missed but not ever forgotten. Our Mom, Our Hero.
