ALVIN C. KIRK was born on November 29, 1926 in Hutchinson, MN.  Died March 12, 2022 peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones at the age of 95.

Children, 3 sons:   James A. Kirk (deceased) wife Kattia; Jack W. Kirk, wife Susan; Ronald A. Kirk, wife Debbie; and 1 daughter:  Denise Kirk O’Brien

Grandchildren – 19, Great-Grandchildren – 32, and Great-Great Grandchildren 2.

Alvin enlisted in the Navy when he was 17, however due to the rule of Private Ryan, he was not deployed overseas because his oldest brother was killed in action over England during WWII;  and his Father and Brother were serving overseas.

While he was enlisted in the Navy and stationed at the Naval Air Station in Millington, TN he met the love of his life.    After only 3 dates, he chose to make her his bride.  They eloped to Hernando, MS and remained married 76 years until his death.  He proclaimed Nadine as the love his life and never wanted to remarry.

Alvin was an active member in many groups in the central West Florida area.   He actively helped many charities raise money for the cause.   He was always a happy and bright character for all who had the privilege of meeting him.    He always had a smile, a hug and words of wisdom for those who needed it.   A few of the names many of his friends called him were – Dad, friend, DadAl, Lady Killah, Pops, Paw Paw, and Big Al.   He was a legend in the area.

Alvin loved to camp, fish and cook – but most importantly he loved to eat!   He said you can always call me, just don’t call me late for dinner!   He loved playing cards with friends and family.   His best games were playing Blackjack and Rummy.   He liked to say he was a “Jack of all trades” because he knew a little about everything.   His favorite job was as a mortgage collection manager, he told many stories about his adventures!

He was an avid animal lover and he loved all dogs.   He did not like cats until the last year of his life.   His beloved cat Charliee jumped in his lap when he got home from the hospital and she would routinely sit on the back of his chair, in his lap or on the end of his bed while he slept.  It was said she gave some of her 9 lives.

He was always up for an adventure and enjoyed the many costumes to the themed events he attended.  He was a man that grabbed life with both hands and made many lifelong friends along the way.   Before his death, he was an active member of the Krewe of Chasco, being the oldest member (95) he loved being in the parades!  He loved raising money – he was “Jailed” for Wheel Chairs 4 Kids – raising over $3,000 to make bail and gave the Judge Julie Weintraub roses in an attempt to make a deal!   At the age  89, he was a participant in the Junior Service League event – Dancing with the Local Stars.   He won the honor of Judges Choice and received a standing ovation.

He loved nothing more than his family and sitting around the table as he shared stories.   He was sharp as a tack and could remember names even if he could not see your face.

A year ago, he was given 6 months to live, he proved them wrong by living another year.  The last few months he declined rapidly, but always brightened up when his family or a pretty woman came in to see him.

As a Krewe Member said:   The world is a better place with people like Dad.  Luckily for us he has made a huge impact in so many lives and his memories will carry on with us all.

Alvin was simply loved by everyone.
