Dolly Jean Mall

July 07, 1944~March 16, 2022

It’s with a heavy heart we share the passing of Dolly Jean Mall (Jeannie, Mom, Ma, Grandma) on March 16, 2022, at the Medical Center of Trinity Florida.  She had numerous health and respiratory issues following an allergic reaction to the vaccine last June.

In the days prior to her passing she had her loving husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren by her side sharing a lifetime of memories where she was often the inspiration or instigator depending on the event.  She had always wanted a tattoo, so her granddaughter and great granddaughter fulfilled that wish at her bedside using markers which received more than a few giggles from family and the nursing staff.  Her favorite saying was “I love you to the moon and back”.

She had a way of making each of us feel as if we were her favorite and each of us kept that secret close to our hearts.  Her passion was her family and she was an amazing cook, never allowing anyone to leave before growing a pant size.  Her hobbies were tending to grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens.   She also loved to visit casinos and keep up with the lives of her cousins and friends.  She was an excellent euchre player and would only partner with Poppa, the love of her life.

Born in Ottawa, Illinois on July 7, 1944, Jeannie turned 77 on 7/7 in 2021.  She spent most of her life and raised her family in northern Illinois until retiring to Clearwater and later Hudson, Florida.  She fell in love with the beautiful sunsets, seashells and beaches.  Although she was a homemaker for many years, she also worked at various companies including Marathon Electric in Earlville, CTS Knights in Sandwich and later as a waitress at restaurants in the area including the Williamsburg Inn in Yorkville where she made lifelong friends.

Jeannie is survived by the love of her life and husband Richard (Dick) Mall of Hudson, Florida and their four children: Susie (Danny) Wilson of Sandwich, IL, Joe (Angie)Mall of Sandwich, IL, Russ (Gretchen) Mall of Williamsburg, VA and Chrissy Mall of Plano, IL, her brother-like nephew Donny (Patti) LeRette and sister in laws Kay Coppes and Marla Mall as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Grandchildren:  Derek (Jessica) Dierzen of Sheridan, IL, Danielle (Nick) Voss of Sandwich, IL, Tyler Mall of Sandwich, IL, Janelle (Cameron) Nelson of Steward, IL, Adalyn (Addie) Mall of Williamsburg, VA and Jake (Kristi) Wilson of Brentwood, CA.

Great Grandchildren: Abigail (Abby) & Landyn Voss, Duncan & Decker Dierzen, Summer and Danica Mall, Kayiah and Jace Nelson, Wyatt & Silas Wilson.

She was preceded in death and welcomed to heaven by her beloved grandson Tristan “Max” Mall, her parents Louise (Granny) & Orville (Poppy) Rosness, her brother Gary LeRette, mother and father in-law Les and Maxine Mall, brother-in-law David Mall as well as several uncles and aunts.

The family would like to thank the wonderful and compassionate care the nurses and hospice staff at the Medical Center of Trinity provided throughout her stay.

A private family memorial service will take place at a later date.

Memorials may be made in Jeannie or her family’s names to your charity of choice, the Medical Center of Trinity,  Gulfside Healthcare Hospice Services or

‘You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left. Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her, or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her only that she is gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back.  Or you can do what she’d want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.’

So very sorry to hear that Jean has passed. She was a special former neighbor to me here at Pinewood Village. We would see one another almost every morning sitting outside. She so loved the outdoors and her flowers. Most of all she loved her husband, Dick, and her wonderful family. She shared her love with all who knew her. My deepest sympathy to you, Dick, and your entire family.
