Shu-Jen (Jenny) Chiang Chien

Jenny Chien was born on September 11th, 1953, in Taipei, Taiwan.  She had two older sisters and two younger brothers. In a modest family with five children, she spent her younger years supporting her family through ups and downs. In her grade school years, she was an excellent student and thoroughly enjoy her learning. In the years when kids regularly played outside until the sun was down, she accumulated some loyal friends who to this day think of her as an ally in life. As a young woman, she navigated the busy streets of Taipei (usually on a motorcycle) while receiving vocational training as a seamstress.  Jenny emigrated to the United States in 1988 and settled in Tampa, Florida, where she raised her son Tom and daughter Debbie.  She worked as a seamstress for over 40 years. She did alterations and garment manufacturing for several local designers and even worked with Busch Gardens’ Costume department.

Jenny was an active member of her community and would often offer her seamstress skills. During Covid time she provided masks to both local and nationwide medical facilities. She loves food and enjoys eating out regularly and even became friends with some of the restaurant owners.

Jenny was a pillar of strength for her family and those who knew her as she encouraged excellence through determination and hard work.  As a grandmother, she enjoyed traveling and visiting her grandchildren to provide the same love and support that she did for her children. She is survived by her partner Bill Hwa; son Tom Chien; daughter Debbie Chien; grandson Matthew Larrieux; granddaughter Mia Chien; and grandson Elijah Clough.

姜淑貞 1953年9月11日出生於台灣台北。她有兩個姐姐和兩個弟弟。在一個有五個孩子的樸實家庭中成長，在她年輕的時候總是扶持著家庭度過所有的起伏。小學時，她是一個優秀的學生，並且非常享受她的學習。且是個會在外面玩耍直到太陽下山的孩子，她積累了一些極為要好的朋友，直到今天他們仍將淑貞視為生活中重要的的盟友。在成為年輕女性後，她喜歡在台北繁忙的街道上（通常騎著摩托車）遊歷，同時接受職業培訓成為一位裁縫師。淑貞於 1988 年移居美國，定居在佛羅里達州的坦帕市，在那裡她撫養了兒子錢祖駿和女兒錢祖馨。她做了40多年的裁縫師。她為幾位當地設計師進行改制服裝和服裝製造，甚至與 Busch Gardens 的服裝部門合作。

淑貞在她的生活圈中扮演活躍的一角，經常提供裁縫技能。在新冠肺炎疫情期間，她為當地和全國的醫療機構提供了口罩。她熱愛美食，喜歡經常外出尋找美食，甚至與一些餐館老闆成為朋友。

淑貞是她家人和認識她的人的支柱，她對自己的生活和對親朋好友的鼓勵和支持都帶給身邊的人很大的影響力。作為祖母，她喜歡旅行去探望她的孫子孫女，為孫子孫女們提供對子女同樣的愛和支持。淑貞的伴侶華歲、兒子錢祖駿、女兒 錢祖馨、孫子Matthew Larrieux、孫女 Mia Chien 和 孫子 Elijah Clough 將會一同承襲她的精神並紀念她。
