Michael James McGee, 74 of New Port Richey passed away on June 7th, 2022. He was born in Buffalo, New York the son of the late Howard and Doris McGee.

Mike moved with his family to Redington Shores, Florida in 1961 from Buffalo, New York. He then moved to Holiday where he attended Gulf High School in New Port Richey and Tarpon Springs High School. He worked at Stamas Boats in Tarpon Springs. At 19 years old, he was activated with United States Army (231st Transportation Unit) out of St Petersburg to Vietnam in 1968. Upon returning from his active duty, Mike started working at the United States Post Office as a mail carrier and retired after approximately 28 years of service. He met and married the love of his life, Sharon McGee. Mike, Sharon, and his brother Jimmy opened McGee’s pub and Grill together in 1987 – 1999.

He had a passion for cooking, played soft pitch softball, and loved horse racing. He was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were: Florida State Seminoles, Buffalo Bills, and the Chicago Cubs. Mike and his love Sharon lived a full life making memories with their friends and family. They had a love beyond measure. His gift of hospitality, words of encouragement, sweet spirit, and genuine affection will be dearly missed.

Mike was predeceased by his wife Sharon McGee (Ross), brother James (Jimmy) McGee, and Nephew Michael McGee. He is survived by his brother Howard (Mickey) McGee and wife Rozanne, niece Terri Hogan (Patrick), grand nieces Grace and Alana Hogan, grand nephews Aiden Hogan and Hayden McGee. He had a very special relationship with all of Sharon’s family as well. Surviving are his sister-in-law Helen Ross and many nieces and nephews who a few knew him as “Big Bear.”

A Celebration of Life will be held at Molly Malone’s Irish Pub, 4106 Little Road, New Port Richey on Saturday, June 11th, 2022 from 11:00 AM till 3:00 PM.
