Aglaia (Angie) Polemis, a beloved matriarch, friend, and dedicated community member, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, at the age of 91, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on January 4, 1934, in Andros, Greece, Aglaia was known for her resilience, compassion,  and commitment to her family and friends. She married Michael Polemis in 1949 and immigrated to New York in 1954. After a long career in the hospitality industry, they retired to Tarpon Springs, Florida. Michael preceded her in death in 2001.

Aglaia was an active community member, particularly at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, and was involved with several social clubs including the Daughters of Penelope, Benevolent Society, Athenian Society, and Promethea. She was known for her kindness, beauty, charm, love of gardening, and her strong family dedication. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and socializing while also contributing to community fundraisers.

She is survived by her four children: son Nikolaos Polemis, and daughters Irene Klapsis (married to Nikitas Klapsis), Theano Stavros (married to Alex Stavros), and Joanne Alexandris (married to Constantine Alexandris). Aglaia was blessed with nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply.

A memorial service for Aglaia will be held at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Tarpon Springs, FL, on January 23, 2025, at 11 am, with burial services to follow immediately.
