Arnold Richard Markwell, known to his loved ones as Arnie, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023, in Dunedin, FL, at the age of 82. He was born on December 25, 1940, in Greenfield, MA. He was predeceased by his father Arnold R. Markwell Sr his wife Marion C (Moore) and his mother Ellen H. Jolly and her husband Rosaire.

Arnie had a fulfilling career with the Greenfield Fire Department in Greenfield, MA. giving 21 years of service to his community. He was a committed firefighter, and he dedicated his life to serving and protecting his community.

Arnie, a devoted family man, is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, JoAnn (Murch) Markwell, and their children: Brian R. Markwell and his wife, Shawny; Sherry A. Hurd and her husband, Lou; and B. Alex Spurrier and her husband, Duane. Arnie was also a proud grandfather to Amanda Jo Casabona and her husband, Matt, along with their two children, Emmett and his soon arriving little brother.  Additionally, Nicole Kolosik and her husband Mike, their children Kaylee, Kylie, Mike Jr., and Chase; Grandson Anthony Tessier; Granddaughter Carla Leggett and her husband Shawn; and Grandson Justin Spurrier and his fiancé Emily Rose Britton. Arnie is also survived by his brother Todd A. Markwell and his partner David Bovat, sister Darlene Gamache, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Arnie had a passion for woodwork, hunting and fishing, gardening, and spending time with his beloved dogs. He was a skilled craftsman and took pride in his woodworking projects.

The funeral arrangements are entrusted to Thomas B. Dobies Funeral Home located in Hudson, FL. At Arnie’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Arnie will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be remembered for his dedication to his community, his love for his family, and his passion for woodworking. He will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
