So sad !
Don was my wife’s brother’s in law.
I often met him in Tampa or Paris.
He was a quiet and friendly man, totally devoted to his beloved family.
Rest in peace, Don. And be strong Renée.

Dear Don, Dear brother-in-law,

We have shared a lot during all these years : important events from your marriage with our dearest Renee to those of your beloved children ; joyful moments of vacation either in Florida at your home, or when you came with your family to Paris or to our various residences in Avignon, in Normandy or even in the beautiful villas of Italy.

We had funny times to exchange, with our accent too “British” for you and your accent too American for us. But we still got there around the controversies over meat that was too rare for you, too cooked for us.

We loved those moment, with Renee and you, under the warm floridan nights. Thanks to you, we learned the real American way of life (and not the tourist one).

We caught the importance of sports in your life. And we were so thrilled, thanks to professional connections, to offer to you and Seth two seats for the Super Bowl when it was held in Tampa. A great moment for two football fans, I guess ?

We are sad, Phil and myself. But we must remember good times and progressively forget the last terrible years.
I am sure, wherever you are you agree with us.

Love

Don, we met almost 45 years ago! I discovered what we were used to call in France”Uncle Sam’s America”. And you married Renée. I will always remember driving you into a huge white cadillac (don’t forget that I am not taller than 5.3 ft !). A magical day.
And then you invited us and welcomed us to Tampa with kindness and warmth.
We had great holidays there , of which we will keep an excellent memory for a long time.

Renée, Perrine, Seth, Greg, Mara and their kids will miss you very much. I wish them a lot of courage.

Love you Dad. Since you have passed, the skies seem a bit darker while the sun shines a bit brighter. I take solace knowing that you are finally at peace, but it doesn’t diminish the amount we miss you every day. Thank you for everything you did for us, for showing me how to be a strong but kind-hearted family man and mostly for being you. I will continue to try to make you proud and carry the torch by living by your principles and values as I raise my family. Until we meet again to play another game of catch

Thank you for helping to create such an amazing family that I have been lucky enough to be welcomed into. I too have enjoyed hearing your jokes, and wonderful memories. You have instilled amazing values for your children. I continue to enjoy your humor that I get to hear in Seth. Not sure if I want to thank you for Seth’s passion for sports but it is part of why I love him and your family. We will continue to keep your wonderful memories alive. Sending love to family and friends as we mourn and celebrate a great loss.

My brother Joe, and Don were in college together and I think they must have minored in story telling. They could both spin a story that would defy the imagination. His sports knowledge was one to be marveled.
May you rest in peace brother-in-law and let perpetual light shine upon you.
