Bessie Mercer Lane, 80 of Hudson , FL ( formerly of Odessa,FL) , passed away July 14, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years , Lindsey LaRue Lane, her mother Alice Lourie Batten, her father James Mercer, and her four sisters , Evelyn Grantham, Betty Jean Berry, Alice Virginia Damian, and Brenda Sue Ramirez, her nephew William Shaw, and her canine companion, Sophie Mae Lane. She is survived by her loving daughter, Lori Leighly and husband Scot ,and her granddaughters, Lauren Mingari and husband Michael, and Lindsey Speakman and husband Bronsyn. She is also survived by her four great grand babies, Liam, Luca, and Violet Mingari, and Jonah Wilder Speakman. She loved her family with all her heart and took great pride in getting to see Lauren and Lindsey get married and have their children.   She is also survived by her sister in law, Dianne Lane and her niece Kim Sedler, and Chari Lane, and nephews, Joey Moore, and Andreu Moore. She is survived by her nieces Terri Cheston and husband Charlie, Rhonda Cox and husband Eddie, Tina Terrazas, Tenika Mendez and husband Oscar, Angel Lourie Urbina and husband Fabian, Tiffany Bonilla and husband Ludwin,Tasha Connor and husband Tony, Laci Cooper and husband Robbie,  and Cassidi Brock and husband Travis, and nephews Tony Berry, and Chad Cox and wife Jamie. She had many more great nieces and nephews that she loved just as much.  Bessie retired from AT&T  a job which she loved, and she made many friends there that she keep in touch with all these years. Bessie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She especially loved seeing her granddaughters and their families as they grew. Bessie will always be remembered for her crazy sense of humor, her southern accent and crazy southern sayings that most people have never heard when I say them, She will also be remembered for her warm and welcoming presence, her selfless nature, her strength and resilience, and her huge heart for those she loved.  She will be deeply loved and missed until we are all reunited in Heaven. The family will receive friends at Dobies Funeral Home, 9944 Hudson Avenue, Hudson, Fl  on July 28th from 1-3 pm. Please feel free to dress casually.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Bessie’s family due to the loss of such a fun loving, overall amazing woman. I feel very blessed to have met Bessie working together at AT&T and remaining friends. She will be missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Rest in peace my friend, Bessie until we meet again. Love and hugs to the entire family! Karen Zornes
