Carmen (Carm) A Trovato, Jr. of Palm Harbor, FL died February 11, 2023 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, St. Petersburg, FL after a short, but valiant battle with cancer. Born August 13, 1957 in Windber, PA, son of the late Carmen A. Trovato, Sr. and Pearl J. (Lorenc) Trovato. Carm was survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Connie (Spinos) Trovato of Palm Harbor, FL. Survived by children Dave, married to Christine, of Clearwater, FL, Lisa J Trovato-Powers, married to Shaun Powers of Grafton, MA, and the light of his life, grandson Landon Matthew Powers. He was also survived by his sisters Cindy Holt of Sarasota, FL, and Susan Lorenc of Johnstown, PA. Carm had many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends that loved him dearly. He had a soft spot in his heart for animals, especially his two cats Lawrence J and Sophia, grand-cat Mr. Fluff and grand-dog Shilo.
Carm was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan and found his true joy in coaching his children and their friends in the games of baseball and softball. While most of his favorite sports teams haven’t won championships in recent years, he still enjoyed enduring the misery with his family. (Thanks Buccos & Raiders!!)
Carm loved to tour the country by car with Connie. They traveled frequently throughout the US seeing many of their favorite bands, especially the band Kansas. Carm also enjoyed preparing delicious meals and Bloody Mary’s made with his special spicy blends.
The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation in Carm’s name to Stand Up to Cancer or the Suncoast Animal Rescue League in Palm Harbor, FL.

Being from the same small town where everyone knows just about everyone, we have known Carm for a very long time. He was always a lot of fun to spend time with. We had the opportunity to enjoy his delicious Bloody Mary’s while visiting in Florida. He will be missed and remembered fondly by many.

So very sorry & saddened to hear this news. Our family lived across the street growing up. Knew the family well. I remember Carmen joining in all our neighborhood games & playing hide & seek. Good memories of back then. Condolences & prayers for the family.

Words cannot describe the heartache right now over losing Carmen. (Uncle Carm) From the countless sports chats, arguments, and text chats we all shared daily to listening to music together and having some drinks with it, all these memories will forever be in our hearts. Uncle was a great man and was always there to give a helping hand in anything you needed. He will be forever missed.

Carmen was truly the salt of the earth. We were blessed to have known him through our shared work place. It was uplifting to see his beaming smile when talking of his beloved family, and of course the apple of his eye, grandson Landon. May he rest in peace and watch over them all from afar. His is dearly missed.

Connie & family:
So sorry for the loss. He was a very good man. My brothers and I were constantly with him growing up together only 2 houses apart on 7th street. Really wanted to enjoy a Pirate spring game with you guys and wish I would have acted on that sooner. God loves him and I will always miss him. My prayers are for you, him and your family. We lost a good one !

I didn’t know Carmen as well as some of the others who’ve commented, as I was a year behind him at Windber High School. We did, however, play for the same Little League team–the Yankees. And Carmen was one of the few guys who could hit one over the fence. (I was happy to get one out of the infield.) I remember him as being friendly, kind to others, and humble (he didn’t showboat when he hit one out)–qualities I’m sure he maintained throughout his life. I’m sure he’ll be missed by those close to him.
