Carnelia Mae Smith Saddler, 91, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the Accent Care Hospice Inpatient Center in Largo, Florida.

Born July 27, 1933, in Alderson, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Arthur McKinley Smith and Aristis Elva Nelson Smith. β€œMiss Nelia,” as many addressed her, was the fourth-born of eight children. She graduated from Bolling High School in Lewisburg, West Virginia in 1950.

In 1955, she married Robert Lewis Saddler, also of Alderson, and there they made their home. She was a strong woman of faith and touched many lives. She loved to pray, read her bible and work jigsaw puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert, their son, Steven Lewis Saddler, and all four of her sisters: Joyce Harrison, Bernice Floyd, Elva Owens and Victoria Keys.

Survivors include two daughters, Tanya Clark of Columbus, Ohio and Cynthia Maharrey (Michael) of Tarpon Springs, Florida; six grandchildren, Robert Clark (Sherrell), David Meadows, Steffani Saddler, Darian Johnson, Sinead Maharrey and Brendan Maharrey; five great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur Smith Jr. (Beulah) of Nevada, James Smith of New York and Fredi Smith of California; and a great number of nieces and nephews.

As per her wishes, there will be no funeral service. Please make any expressions of sympathy in the form of a donation to your local Hospice program.
