Dagmar (Dagi) H. Ellingson, 75, mother to three and “Oma” to six, passed away peacefully on May 19th, 2021. While Trinity, FL may have been considered home for the past 17 years, most of her adult life was spent in Herndon, VA, where she and her husband, Roger raised their three children.
A native of Germany, Dagi met Roger while he was serving in the United States Air Force and stationed in Darmstadt in 1964. When asked to go with him, she followed her heart and made her way to Chicago, IL only to have a quick moment of doubt when thinking her new in-laws we’re planning to throw actual dogs onto the grill. Lucky for her she quickly learned that “hot dogs” was a slang term for her beloved frankfurters.
Dagi loved to spend time with her family and friends and adored her grandchildren. She enjoyed her criminal intelligence / Judge Judy shows, a good gossip session, and burger night at the clubhouse. She is survived by her children, David Ellingson, Brian Ellingson, and daughter Christine Gellatly; daughter-in-laws Karen and Emily and son-in-law Bobby; grandchildren – Sara, Logan, Ryan, Grace, Harlan, Georgia and Trisha; mother Helga Feit; sisters Esther Mueller, Claudia Petersen, and many nieces and nephews.

Roger and I were in the Air Force and both were USAFSS personnel. We met Roger again in 1967 in Chicago. Roger was working at a Ford Dealer. Roger and I both went to DeVry Tech in Chicago. During our time in Chicago, my wife Kay and I had many visits with Roger and Dagi. Also visited them them in Tennessee.
Roger went to high school at Farragut and I went to Harrison; not far away. Later in life we visited Roger and Dagi in Trinity, on our way to Ft Myers. During our visits, we talked a lot about family. They were very proud of their kids.
We always did a lot of laughing together. Dagi was a very up-beat women and made Roger laugh a lot.
Through all the years we always seem to keep tracked of each other and find a way to have one more visit.
God Bless them and their Kids
