Dale Marie Greeley, 59, of Hudson, Florida passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 surrounded by the people she loved the most, her family. She is survived by her husband Peter Greeley, 61 of Hudson, FL and her daughter Kelly Potts, 39, also of Hudson, FL. She leaves behind her greatest joy in life, her two grandchildren, Greyson and Declan Potts (10 and 7) and her dog, Zeus, who she absolutely adored and snuck treats to every chance she got.
Dale was born in Hawaii to the now deceased Ray and Helen Jones. She was one of eight children, she is preceded in death by her brother Dirk Jones, and is survived in death by her five sisters and younger brother, Mary Beth Spicer and Corey Jones of Delaware, Lisa Haptonstall and Tina Depew of Florida, Michelle Nickerson of Delaware and Craig Jones of South Carolina. Dale spent most of her life in Delaware before permanently relocating to Florida in 2009. She loved the warm weather, and always had a dream of leaving snow and never returning, a vow she would keep for the rest of her life.
Dale completed an LPN certificate program in the early 90’s and completed her RN degree in 2002 at Delaware Technical Community College. Dale spent thirty years as a nurse, and she was the nurse that every nurse who enters nursing school with a dream and a hope aspires to be. Dale loved her patients fiercely, spending many years as a pediatric home health nurse before she transitioned to Medical Surgical Nursing and later, case management. She was the epitome of what a nurse should be – caring, compassionate and patient-focused. She was a mentor to so many new nurses, building up their confidence and lighting their path for new opportunities believing that each new graduate she mentored would go on to accomplish amazing things in their career, and all of them have and she was always so proud of their accomplishments.
The one thing Dale loved more than nursing was her family, and if she met you, and loved you, you became her extended family. Even though Dale had one biological daughter, she spent many years taking on the role of a mother to so many people who crossed her path and just needed an extra vote of confidence, a warm hug or a safe place to stay throughout the years. When it came to being a Mom, it came naturally and she always loved unconditionally, she was the epitome of everything a mother should be and those of us who were lucky to feel that love will never forget it. Dale loved to spend time outdoors gardening, spending many Saturday afternoons tending to her plants with her husband and grandson. She was also an avid traveler who took many vacations around the U.S. with her husband, daughter and grandkids. She was always planning the next trip where she would be surrounded by family before she even finished the one she was on.
Dale is going to be greatly missed by those who knew her best, and even those who only met her a few times, she just left her mark on your heart that can never be erased. The world will be a much different place without her physically here, but she will live in our hearts forever until we all get the chance to meet her in Heaven. Her laugh, sense of humor, and smile will be missed, but they live on in the people she loved the most, her family.
A memorial service will be held at Dobies Funeral Home in Hudson on Saturday, October 16, 2021 with a private family interment directly following the memorial. A celebration of life will be held January 15, 2022, details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to HPH Hospice in her honor.
