We were so very blessed to visit with Mr. Greer and his wife earlier this year at his home. My husband was a student and subsequent teacher in Taylor Schools and I was a vocal teacher in Taylor. I had never met Mr. Greer but heard is name spoken of fondly over my years in Taylor. I played his beautiful white grand piano while there but the real treat was watching and listening to Mr. Greer play. At 90 years old, this man still had an amazing touch on the piano and played with a touch that was nothing short of being touched by the master musician Himself, our Heavenly Father. I believe that upon arriving in Heaven, Mr. Greer was given the most beautiful instrument ever and that he is playing and worshiping. I am grateful that I was finally able to meet Mr. Greer and that Dennis was able to connect with him once again.

To the greer family words cannot describe how upset i am to hear your beloved daniel Sr. has passed away peacefully at age 90. I actually remember growing up listening to his amazing organ tunes in high school and i would listen to him play at all the detriot tigers games at tiger stadium in the 70s and 80s via archives, no idea when he retired but still he always delivered amazing yet timeless melodies on his beautiful organ at tiger stadium and watching all the old mets at tigers games i loved his music and would always look forward to hearing him play. During lockdown i watched him play organ at red wing games in joe louis arena, which was a godsend for me knowing he did both teams back in the day. Again he was such a great guy and words cannot describe how sorry i am for your loss i hope you guys will be ok and if he was sick or had cancer just know he is resting easy now and at peace knowing the battle is over. Thanks again for giving me such great memories with your beloved daniel to the greer kids daniel jr. Doug lynda greer klein and the wife dorothy greer i am truly sorry for your loss and thank you for introducing me to your dad and husband to his wonderful music as a 24 year old man i am so blessed and humble to have known him through his music thank you again and know that he is in my thoughts forever and know that your all loved. Thanks again and i hope to meet you all soon
Warmest regards

My dad, Art Elander, was a music teacher in Wayne/Westland and worked with Dan before he went to Taylor Schools. I do remember the family even though I was a young teen when they visited. I remember going to Tiger Stadium to hear Dan on the organ. Dan was involved in getting my brother a job at the Montreaux Jazz Festival one summer. He was a good man, good friend, a great teacher and family man. He will be missed.

I don’t know if this will reach Daniel, Doug, Lori and Lynda or the grandchildren or great grandchildren at this late date but I choose to hope so. I and my husband where students at Taylor Center High School and we were privileged to sit under Mr.Greer for three school years in Concert Choir 3 yrs and Corral Aired for 2 years from 1969-70 to 71-72.His life was an living example of the joy that music brought from the depths of his soul to Everyone!!! He always gave the his all to everyone. He made events happen and sing engagement’s scheduled that no other person would have ever bothered with. I know those who learned to love music the way he did, seemed to continue in music in some way the rest of our lives. My husband against all odds went into the ministry first as a on the road gospel quartet singer, held minister of music and choir director. He and I have sang together our daughter and son and now grandchildren all continue in music in some way. We went to Kentucky and sang at the Ford Filpot Christmas special Tv shows. Soon after Joan and he had married. They had us in his home often. I know his love of God Music and his family was something every person could see. Just a note to the children, something I would think all of you would remember, one night all of you came home from church and found rows of pumpkins lined up in front of your garage door. That was me,Dana,Beverly, David and Tony. He is so well know as the organist for the teams but he is and always has been known in our heart as the man who love music and changed the lives of so so many. We loved him and was a giant part of making so many of us who we are today. I know God recieved him with open arms. I pray you have had peace in his passing.
