David L. Thomas, 75, passed away peacefully at home in Dandridge,
TN on Aug. 20, 2020. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years,
Brenda; his 3 children, Shawn, Marlo, and Faith; 6 grandchildren and 2
great grandchildren. David was born April 17, 1945, in Tarpon Springs, FL
to David Guy and Elsie Lee Thomas. He lived the majority of his life in
Tarpon Springs, moving to Dandridge in 2017. After graduating as
president of his class at Tarpon Springs High School, he went on to a
variety of jobs which included driving an ambulance, working for Padgett
Funeral Home and Myron and Sons Painting before becoming the clerk at
Bethany Temple (now Life’s Source) Church of God, where he remained for
37 years. He loved serving God and His people. Whether it was driving a
bus to pick up kids for Sunday School, cleaning, or yard work, whatever
needed doing, he was willing with a humble servant’s heart.
He loved his family and friends. Spending time with them was
important to him. Being in the kitchen preparing meals for his friends and
family to share was one of his greatest pleasures. A close second might
have been visiting Disney World with those friends and family. He gave his
life to those he loved, and they loved him. He was known by all as a kindhearted
man with a devotion to God, family and friends.
