Dr. George Garcia and I were for about a decade together at the Mass. Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston. Very recently we reestablished contact and exchanged some e-mails. He was a very skilled eye physician and surgeon. We shared several so called Friday clinics and I was always astonished by his knowledge and his friendly approach to the patients. I was shocked by his passing and I wish his family strength.

My colleague Gail Gladstone and I worked for Dr Garcia at Boston Eye Physicians and Surgeons from the time of our graduation from our program at Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary. He was a wonderful teacher and mentor. The things he taught us I use every day. His patients always ask about him. I offer my most heartfelt condolences to his family.

Dr. Garcia was a trusted partner in our Boston Ophthalmic practice.
I first met him at the Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary on my first residency eye rotation
in 1970. Instantly I was impressed with his compassion, knowledge, and leadership.
We coauthored a published article on automated refraction. At the end of
my residency we decided to establish a private practice along side another
giant of Boston ophthalmology, Dr. Abraham Pollen. Dr. Garcia had a
large and strong practice. His friendly effervescent personality won the
trust of all his patients and colleagues.
May his soul rest in peace and may his wife Nancy and the rest of his family
know George was a man who was loved and admired by his colleagues.
