Wood, Edward O. III, 91 of New Port Richey FL, passed away on May 9, 2020 with his family by his side. He was born July 26, 1928 in Chicago, IL the son of Edward O. Wood JR. and Ida Woodley. Edward grew up in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago, attended St Ignatius High School, and went to college at the University of Detroit where he played football. Edward achieved a carrier in business as an Executive with General Motors. He was an active volunteer throughout his life coaching sports, participating in organizations within his local parishes, helping to lead Pre-Cana Weekends and sponsoring candidates entering the Catholic Church. In retirement he was an active member of the St Vincent DePaul Society and Board Member for the Wyndtree Community Association. He and his wife Mary Anne of 68 years where active members of Marriage Encounter and enjoyed years of traveling both nationally and internationally.
Edward is survived by his wife Mary Anne Wood, 3 daughters Mary Jane Kemeny-Peronto and her husband Claude of CO, Margaret Wood of OH, Anne Marie Frey and her husband David of OH, 5 sons Edward O. Wood IV and his wife Marlene of MI, Leo Wood and his wife Antoinette of OH, John Wood and his wife Janice of IL, Michael Wood and his wife Michelle Barry of MI, Martin Wood and his wife Dana of IL,16 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 8:30 AM on Thursday May 14, 2020 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church 4843 Mile Stretch Dr, Holiday, FL.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery Chardon, OH at a date to be determined in the near future.
Local Arrangements are under the direction of Dobies Funeral Home Holiday, FL.
