On August 23, Elizabeth (Betsy) Brown passed away in New Port Richey, Florida after a long illness. She was surrounded by her two sisters and her loving dog Rosie. Betsy was predeceased by her brother Bob Brown and his wife Becky. She is survived by her sisters Candace Brown of New Port Richey and Linda Forcellina of Connecticut, her niece Alyse Forcellina and her husband Bill Ciraco of Utah, and her nephew Christopher Forcellina and his wife Angela of Nashville. Very special to Betsy was her great niece Annabella Ciraco.
Betsy graduated from Norwalk and Wilton CT public schools and went on to the University of Connecticut. Later she attended the Cornell University Hotel Management School. The major part of her career was spent in the hotel industry. She held various managerial positions at Mayfair Regent In New York City and was also assigned to Regent Hotels in Chicago, Venice, and Hong Kong. Also in NYC, Betsy worked at The Mark Hotel and served as General Manager at The Lowell, both 5-star boutique hotels.
After retirement, Betsy had other interesting positions, notably at Metromedia, InBev, and WWE as Vince McMahon’s executive assistant.
As important as her business successes were supporting and volunteering at animal rescues, the Norwalk Cancer Center, and reading to the blind. She fostered and adopted dogs and cats.
Betsy was a fighter and survived many health and other challenges; yet she was always known for her kindness, compassion, generosity, and sense of humor. A friend to so many, her love and tolerance for all living things should be a lesson to us all. Less than five feet tall, Betsy was a hero to her friends, colleagues, and family. Her memory will last in the hearts of all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a no-kill animal shelter of your choice.
