Emma A. Stano, 94, of New Port Richey, FL, passed away peacefully Oct. 5, 2023. Born May 12, 1929, in Jersey City, NJ, a daughter of the late Edna (Taggart) Moller. At the age of 10 she was lovingly adopted by the late Arthur and Patricia Degen, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. She married John Stano in 1949 in Iselin, PA, and moved to Warren, Ohio, in 1950, where she was a devoted wife and mother of four children, John, Patty, Verna and Victor. She moved to Florida in 2012.
Emma enjoyed traveling with her husband John and children, visiting 48 states and spent most of her summer vacations “back home” in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, as well as visiting family as often as possible. She was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, always going to Pirate’s baseball games spontaneously on a Friday or Saturday night or spring training visits in Florida…but Sunday’s were always for the Steelers.
She loved puzzles, crosswords, as well as playing cards and going to estate sales with her daughter, Verna, and best friend Ivy. She loved listening to her favorites Eddie Arnold, Patty Paige and Celtic Thunder , which she enjoyed attending their concerts. Emma enjoyed slot machines and often visited Atlantic City and Tampa Hard Rock Casinos, and going out to eat. Crab legs were her favorite thanks to son-in-law Garry who always made them for her. Most of all Emma loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the highlights of her life, and always said they kept her young. She always loved to have fun and laughter. Everyone fell in love with Emma and her smile.
Emma was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, John J Stano (January 10, 1997). Survived by her son John F. Stano of New Port Richey, FL, daughters Patty (Stano) Christy and her husband Garry of Ocoee, FL, Verna (Stano) Nezbeth and her husband Jim of New Port Richey, FL and son Victor M. Stano and wife Lorie of Westfield, IN. Emma will be sadly missed by her nine grandchildren: Joshua, John, Carlos, Larry, Toni, James, Jacob, Ryan, Kyle and her eight great grandchildren: Nathan, Jacob, Mia, Sam, Chace, Carter, Elliott and Ethan.
A private service for immediate family will be held October 21st at Dobies Funeral Home, Congress Street, New Port Richey, FL.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Emma’s name to Gulfside Hospice, New Port Richey, FL.

Patty and family,
So sorry to hear the loss of your mom. She was a sweetheart. I’ll always remember how she “accommodated “ all us girls when we would invade your house for a sleepover! She was definitely an angel! 💙
