Evangelos M. Karamalegos, 78, a native of Athens, Greece and a resident of Holiday, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. Beloved husband of Eleftheria “Rea” Balassi, with whom he dedicated almost 50 years in marriage; Loving father of Katherine (Brian) Kust, Michael Karamalegos and Francine (Steven) Conway; Proud and devoted grandfather of Alessandra and Gianna Kust; Eleftheria (Ella), Evangelia (Evia) and Elexie (Lexie) Karamalegos and Melena and Evangelos (Frank) Karamalegos-Conway; Son of the late Evangelos and Eleftheria Karamalegos; dear brother to the late Angeliki Balassi, the late Giannis Karamalegos and sisters Maria and Koula; dear brother-in-law and uncle to many.
Mike was well-known as a friend to all and loved to spend time with his friends over coffee or tsipouro sharing stories of life and laughing. He was incredibly passionate about his family as well as soccer and delicious food. He made everyone around him feel laughter and support. He spent many years as the head varsity coach of a high school soccer team, where he was instrumental in developing a successful high school soccer program that lasted well beyond his retirement, and where he is still remembered by his players as a beloved and influential coach and mentor. His true gifts, however, were the lessons of life, love and family he shared with his wife and passed on to his children and grandchildren, who were always in his thoughts and by his side.
