Evelyn Velez, of Holiday, FL passed away peacefully on Dec 4, 2024, after bravely battling ALS. She was born on August 29,1955, in Manhattan, New York and a longtime resident of Waterbury, CT. Daughter of the late Humberto Medina & Maria Medina. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years Moises Velez, daughters Brenda Barbosa & her husband Alcino Barbosa, Mayra Rios & her husband Victor Rios. Beloved sister of Humberto Medina Jr & his wife Isabel, Edwin Medina & his wife Migdalia. and her loving grandchildren Ali Belica, Elijah Belica, Samuel Rios, Vivianna Rios and Jaden Barbosa who called her “Wela”
Evelyn was a pillar of strength, bravery, and contagious positivity. She worked at Brucato MFG as a parts inspector in Waterbury, CT for many years and anyone who knew her would say she has an amazing sense of humor, but it wasn’t as great and the beautiful smile she greeted you with Her love for life was characterized by her love for travels, shopping, cruises, trips to Lake George and her favorite “The Casinos” She enjoyed peaceful strolls to the canal with her daughter Brenda,
to listen to music and wait for the fish to jump. Evelyn loved spending time with her extended family and her great personality was often seen during family gatherings and celebrations that filled her home with laughter, music, delicious food, and great memories.

Evelyn was always a pleasure to be around, even during her fight with ALS you could see she loved company. Evelyn Florida trips will never be the same for me, I love you my dear sweet sister in law. Till we meet again.

I have so many memories with Titi Evelyn. She always let me stay at her house growing up. She was so good to me! She will be missed. I have peace knowing she is at rest now.
