Francis Madden, 81, passed away on Sunday, November 14th, 2021. She was born on June 4th, 1940, in Quentin, Kentucky, to the late Walter and Hattie Nicholas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rufus Earl Madden; and 9 brothers and sisters, Josephine Hammond, Fonza Parker, Marcella Maloney, twin infant brothers, Carl and Clarence Nicholas, Amos Nicholas, Andy Nicholas, Shirley Clark, and Jerry Nicholas.
She was raised in Spiceland, Indiana, and graduated from Spiceland High School. She and her companion, Gordon Upchurch (deceased) spent their later years in Homosassa, Florida. She lived the last four years in Hudson, Florida.
She retired from Western Electric where she also moved to Oklahoma for a time to finish her time with Western Electric. She also owned a beauty shop in Spiceland.
She loved to sew, winning many trophies. She loved to cook, she loved flowers, and most of all, she loved her family. She never had children so she treated all of her nieces and nephews as her children.
She is survived by one sister-in-law, Carolyn Madden Speck; three nieces, and two nephews that will always cherish her memories and the love she gave them. There will be a small graveside service in New Castle at a later date.
