Frederic Anderson, Jr. 53, of Hudson, Florida, passed away March 23,2021. Frederic was born October 18, 1967 in Wellfleet, Massachusetts to Frederic Anderson, Sr and Susan Goodhue. Fred grew up on Cape Cod spending much of his young life on and around his father and father’s relatives offshore fishing boats. He came to love everything about the New England fishing industry. Including working as an offshore fisherman from an early age. Working on fishing boats out of Sandwich, Massachusetts, New Bedford, Massachusetts, Martha Vineyard, and Block Island, Rhode Island. Fred enjoyed riding dirt bikes, surfing, sailing, and driving muscle cars during his years on the Cape. Spending time with his friends, cousins, and family. Fred attended Cape Cod Regional Technical High School. Studying Culinary Arts. In 1987 Fred moved to Oldsmar, Florida. He fell in love with the year-round lifestyle Florida offered. Fred initially worked in construction. Then as a cook at local restaurants. Then at local manufacturing companies. Eventually Fred found his lifelong career in the commercial sign industry. Starting out as a sign fabricator, he spent 15 years as a commercial sign painter. Of his work some were award winning and works of art. He finished his career in the industry as a sign installer. Fred married, Jane Anderson, on July 4, 1991. Together they had two son’s Andrew and Allen. Fred was a loving husband and father. In his 20’s Fred spent years building and driving muscle cars. Spending hours with friends wrenching on their cars, going to car shows, and at times racing each other. In his late 20’s through his mid 40’s Fred enjoyed his most cherished love of boating and sailing. Sailing homemade boats, then Hobie Cats, a 23’ trailered Oday. Finally enjoying a 27’ Oday Tempest. Fred enjoyed years with close friends and family sailing in Tampa Bay, the Dunedin Causeway and intercoastal waterways. Taking several long trips up through Tampa Bay as far as Madeira Beach. Through the passion he had for muscle cars, sailing, and living in Oldsmar Fred met and made a lifetime of friends. Most very close to him for more than 30 years. Fred enjoyed cooking and grilling. Spending time with his family and friends as much as he could. He loved old movies. Especially movies with John Wayne, Earl Flynn, and any involving ships and pirates. Several years ago, Fred moved his family to Hudson, Florida. There he settled into a quiet lifestyle. He loved living near the Gulf of Mexico. Sailing, canoeing, and hanging out with close friends and the locals. Locals, like his family, and lifelong friends, embraced Fred’s gregarious, funny, and loyal attributes. Fred enjoyed sitting on his front porch talking to neighbors, watching the water, and enjoying the Gulf Sunset every night. In the last five months of his life Fred found a new calling. Having grown up on Cape Cod Fred had an encyclopedic knowledge of offshore fishing boats from the fishing industry in New England. An avid model builder of car models, boat models, and collector of vintage boat model kits he started to build his own boat models. Plank by plank, piece by piece, recreating the boats he grew up around. By the grace of God and close friendships his work was shared with, like him, people who truly embraced and loved the fishing fleets of New England. Recently he had been commissioned, by families, whose fathers owned and operating boats in the New England fleets. Creating heirlooms to be passed down. He handcrafted every part of the boats he made. It made him full of joy and very proud. Sadly, his desk lay with boats he was working on right up to the night before his unexpected passing.
Fred was preceded in death by his father Frederic Anderson, Sr. fraternal grandparents Eldon and Leola (Taylor) Anderson, maternal grandparents Allen Lane and Mary Elizabeth (Huthcinson) Goodhue, father-in-law Kenneth D Harris, Sr., brother-n-laws Arnold D Harris, Sr. and Russell D Harris Sr. Frederic is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Jane Anderson, son’s Andrew Anderson of New Port Richey, Florida and Allen Anderson of Hudson, Fl, mother Susan (Pat) Anderson, Ocala, Fl, sisters Christine (Donald) Maccioci of Hudson, Fl and Judy (Michael) Keenan of Mashpee, MA, brothers Erik (Genevieve) Anderson of N Eastham, MA and James (Elizabeth) Cherubini Anderson of Barrington, RI. My sincere condolences to the entire family. I’ve known Fred since I was 12 years old, one of my very first friends when we moved to Eastham. To say he was a devoted friend is an understatement. He and his brother Erik spent lots of time at our house, they even called my mom “mom”. Although I had not seen Fred in person for many many years, we stayed in touch through Facebook and he was always sending me photos of the beautiful model boats he was building. He will always be in my heart. Still can’t believe he’s gone. My heart goes out to you and your family.
