Mr. Frederick Rudolph Olsson, age 78, of Hudson, FL (born in Chelsea, MA) passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 5, 2022 with his loving family by his side.
He was born September 16, 1943, to the late Charles Rudolph Olsson and Ruth Marion (Bostrom) Olsson and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1961. Following high school, Fred enlisted in the US Navy where he served on the USS Sargo (SSN 583) until 1963, retiring from the US Navy in 1968 on the USN/PDRL. After he served, Fred worked for Midas Muffler, becoming a franchise partner in 1978 and sole proprietor of a Midas franchise from 1998 until his retirement to Hudson, FL in 2006.
Fred married his loving wife of 58 years, Gleyde Maria Olsson, on May 10, 1963. Fred is survived by his wife, Gleyde; son Charles Rudolph Olsson II of Chelsea, MA and his wife Laura (Sylvester Trottier) Olsson; son Gley Olsson of Chelsea, MA, and his wife Eli (Running) Olsson; and son Nils Christian Olsson, Sr. of Boston, MA; his loving daughter-in-law Andrea Joy Le Vie of Boston, MA; his brother Carl Alfred Olsson and wife Mary Katherine (De Vore) Olsson; his brother Ronald Joseph Sigurd Olsson; his six grandchildren Cameron Rudolph Olsson (29), William Elijah Olsson (27), Nils Christian Olsson, Jr. (19), Linnea Morgan Olsson (15), Teigen Frederick Olsson (8), Jakob Ragnar Olsson (5). Fred was pre-deceased by his parents, his brother William Patrick Olsson and sister Ambia Marie (Olsson) Smith.
Fred had a lifelong passion for antique clocks, a love for his New England roots, enjoyed regular vacations in Maine and Cape Cod, and would most often be found in his spare time reading a good book. His pride in his country, loyalty to his friends, and love for his family were unwavering.
Per Fred’s wishes, he will lay to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL which will take place on Tuesday, May 24th at 11:00 am. Arrangements will be handled by Thomas B Dobies Funeral Home in Hudson, FL. with viewing services on Monday, May 23 from 2 pm-4 pm. Fred’s family would like to thank the nursing staff of the HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson, FL for their loving care.

I loved you more than words can say. I miss you so much. There was so much you still had to give to this world. Your wisdom and perspective were unmatched.
