George E. Smith, 79, passed away peacefully November 19th, 2024. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, and went into eternal sleep in New Port Richey, Florida.
He is survived by his daughter Melissa Smith (Bradley King); stepchildren Tami Taylor (Mark) Rocky Edmonds, Christopher Bright (Drinda), and Debbie Lanzo-Zito; and many loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is reunited with his mother Lucille Smith; wife Rosemary Smith; and stepson Ricky Allen. He had many beloved pets that have passed as well. His dog Mojo misses him tremendously.
George was a true Clevelander. He loved the Browns. He was an Ohio State Buckeye at heart. He had attended St. Ignatius grade school, St. Edward’s High School and West Tech. Served in the Army Reserves, then became a Pressman for The Cleveland Plain Dealer. He was the cook in the family. Best ballet dad. Had the most awesome sense of humor. Loved animals and roller coasters. A crossword puzzle and video game connoisseur. He was just the best.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local animal rescue. He always donated to many organizations.
A celebration of life party will be scheduled at a later date at Sip on Grand in New Port Richey, and in Cleveland. I love you daddy 💜

Melissa, my heart is heavy hearing of your father’s passing. May the comfort of family and friends embrace you in comfort and strength during this deeply difficult time. Loosing a parent is life’s hardest heartache and it changes us forever. We are all of a sudden truly alone in life. May you find strength in healing through friends and other family members. Your father and mother will always be with you and you will notice their presence everyday. Paul and I send our heartfelt sympathies to you and yours and also a big long hug. May he rest eternally at peace.

George was a man with a smile in his heart who always made me smile. I never knew him to be unkind nor pompous nor pretentious. He was a regular guy, my favorite cousin and he’ll be missed by many.
