Gloria B. North, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Sun Coast Hospice Care in Palm Harbor, FL after a brief illness. Gloria was born on February 20, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY. She was the youngest of four siblings. Gloria grew up in an Italian household in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn, New York and she was proud of her Italian American heritage.

She married Bernard T. North on August 4, 1946 and had three sons. Gloria was a loving wife and mother who devoted her life to her family and her faith. They relocated to Long Island, NY in 1964 where she worked at the New York Times, until her retirement and eventual move to Tarpon Springs, Florida.

Gloria never met a stranger; she had a vibrant personality and was outgoing evident when she received a “cheerleading trophy” for her support of son James, and his youth football team.

She touched the lives of many people and all those she knew said they were blessed to have known her.  She loved to travel with family and friends and was often the life of the party. She had an amazing sense of humor and was always able to see the good in everything. She possessed a quick wit and knew how to make  people feel comfortable. Family was everything to Gloria, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Gloria is pre-deceased in death by her devoted husband of 50 years, Bernard T. North; her parents; Julia and Frank Pisani; her siblings; Antoinette Desiderio; Marie Hamilton; and Vincent Pisani; and her oldest son; Gerard North; and her niece, Carol Drivas. She is survived in death by two sons; Peter North (Jane); James North (Toni); daughter-in-law, Donna North; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; beloved niece, Mary Jane Sawicki, nieces and nephews. The viewing will be held at Dobies Funeral Home in Tarpon Springs, Fl on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Church in Tarpon Springs.  There will be a private burial at a later date.
