September 06, 1940~December 27, 2022

Gordon A. Collier, 82 of New Port Richey, Florida, went to heaven on December 27th, 2022, surrounded by his family.  Gordon, fondly known as Gordie, was born to Wesley and Dorotha Collier in Flint, Michigan on September 6th, 1940.  He graduated from Lakeville High School and was a talented athlete who played many sports.

He worked at Fisher Body until they closed and finished his 33 years of service for General Motors at Buick City when he retired in 1993.  He continued working at the family business Collier’s Market and Back Door until he moved to Florida in 2005.  He was a charter member of the Lapeer Eagles and a member of the Lapeer Moose Lodge.  He was an avid golfer and was a member of Meadow Oaks Country Club.  He enjoyed hanging out with his friends, playing cards, but most of all being with his family.  He loved having the family over for cookouts and pool time the most.

Gordie received the “Good Guy award” from the Lapeer County Press, he was an all-around “great guy” who was loved by many.

Gordon is survived by his wife Judy Collier, three children Jerry Collier (Penny Eiden), Sherry (Rich) Connery, and Justin (Judi) Brown.  Four grandchildren, Wesley (Blanca) Collier, Lucas and Lydia Brown, and Richard Connery Jr. Two great-grandchildren Jayden and Jacob Collier.

Gordon’s Celebration of Life will be at Meadow Oaks Country Club in Hudson, FL on January 21st, 2022, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  We are also planning a Celebration of Life in Michigan during the summer and will have details forthcoming when the arrangements can be made.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests to please send donations in Gordon’s name to Hernando-Pasco Hospice 6801 Rowan Road, New Port Richey, FL 34653.

I remember Gordie well, he played ball with my father “Bud”, always had a contagious smile. Fly high Gordie, I hope you and Dad can start up a game of blooper ball in heaven.

I hadn’t seen Gordie in a very long time but we spent much time together as cousins sharing holidays & growing up in Columbiaville, Mi. Our mom’s (sisters) were remarkable cooks and we had the best holiday meals together. Gordie always had a smile on his face, and looking for some mischief. He will be missed.
