Harold (Hap) Cherry was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday June 6th, 2024.
Hap was born in Olustee, Florida on November 3rd, 1933. He is survived by his wife Jeanette of 70 years, his daughters Cyndi (Mark) McClure, Nancy (Ben) Fortson, and Sharon Hayes. His grandchildren, Kyle, Chrystl, Aimee, Leah, Noah, Haylee, and Hannah. His great grandchildren, Finn, Rhys, Elin, Oliver and Mac; and his brother Ron (Shirley) Cherry.
Hap grew up in Zephyrhills, Florida with four brothers and two sisters. He served in The United States Navy from 1952-1956 toward the end of The Korean War. In Pensacola, he served with the military police, then in North Carolina on the coast as a navigator of naval blimps.
He spent many years camping and traveling The United States. He loved fishing and woodworking. He was kind, strong, and gentle. Everyone who knew him loved him. He made you feel safe and loved. He was respected and adored by family, friends, and coworkers. But his greatest love was his faith in Jesus, Jeanette, and his family.
