It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Helen Reynolds Struth on August 10th, 2023. She was born to Anna and William Reynolds on June 29th, 1938 in McDonald, Pennsylvania. Growing up, Helen excelled in school; participating in a multitude of sports and clubs – all 4 years in Pep club. She graduated from South Fayette High School in 1956.
She started out as a working woman and brought paychecks home to help support her younger siblings. Helen received certification from an Airline School but after being courted by Jim Struth for 10 yrs, they married and she choose to stay home and raise a family.
To say she was a homemaker is an understatement. Helen had the biggest heart; always willing to open her home to others and help anyone who needed it; so long as they “didn’t ever throw away her good stuff”.While Helen would say she hated cooking, some of the best times raising her family could be found around the kitchen table eating one of the meals she made. Her unwavering strength during times of struggle was an example she set for all who knew her and will be one of the traits she’ll be forever remembered for.
In her golden years, she enjoyed puzzles, watching old westerns on tv and time spent with her family. Because of the example she set in always putting family first and taking care of loved ones unconditionally, she spent the last 13 years living in the comforts of home with her daughter and family. Despite the tough exterior most often saw, Helen was her family’s source of comfort. She encompassed everything a matriarch stands for and will be kept in the hearts of those who loved her most as the epitome of a family woman.
She is survived by daughter Catanna Testino (Jim); Grandchildren Helen Fortier (Clint), Chance Testino, Dante Testino and Shaylen Testino; great grandchildren Annistyn Fortier and Jordanna Fortier; Siblings Thomas Reynolds (Doris), Kathryn Prozzoly, and Bill Reynolds (Rhonda); numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband James and son John.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 2nd, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to
HPH Hospice in Helen’s memory.
