Herb Blair, 98, of Hudson, Florida was sent home to be with our Lord on August 14, 2020. He was born in Brunswick, Nebraska on March 28, 1922. He is the son of the late Ethel and Ralph Blair. He is survived by his children Lidie, Mark, and Melanie and her husband Tom, and three step-sons, Don and his wife Lois, Terry and his wife Jean, and Rex and his fianc`e Pris, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren, and one brother Joe.
Herb served in the Coast Guard during WW2 and after the war he was stationed in Ship Bottom, New Jersey where he met Lidie Higgins and married her in 1944. They ended up living in the Philadelphia suburbs raising their children. The family lived in New Mexico, Nebraska and back to Pennsylvania. Herb enjoyed carpentry and built two houses that the family lived in. Herb ended up moving back to Nebraska and married Mavis Bryce in 1965. Herb jumped back into farming until he moved to Florida in 2012 to stay with his daughter.
Dad, we know you are happy to be free. We knew the day was coming but you took a piece of our hearts with you… It was impossible to prepare for you to leave… You are the sweetest, kindest, gentlest man we have ever known… You smiled at everyone… You showed us through your life how important faith, trust in God, and prayer are… We will miss you so much…
Services will be held at Brunswick Community Church, at Brunswick NE, on Sept 19, 2020 at 10:00 am. Graveside service will follow.
