Herb had a wonderful sense of humor, a twinkle in his eye, and a great love for his family. He enjoyed having coffee and watching sunrises with his wife. He loved nature, cooking, and learning about different cultures. Throughout his life he played various musical instruments and had an appreciation for music ranging from classical to bluegrass. He worked hard, loved well and was a caring son, brother, friend, husband of 62 years, father, uncle, and grandfather. He will be missed but not forgotten to those who had the honor of knowing him.

Although I didn’t get to spend time with him as an adult and remember only vaguely moments of my childhood, I always remember Uncle Herb as a kind, loving and gentle soul. He had a sense of humor and will be remembered. R.I.P. Uncle Herb. Love your nephew Christian and family

Most of my fondest childhood memories were spent in Vermont. Uncle Herb had quite the sense of humor. I especially remember the pony milk story! He and Aunt Clytie always made me feel loved and welcome in their home. Goodbye for now .

I’ll miss you, uncle Herb and I wish you could have met your grand nephew, Adonis. He would have loved you. I know my dad misses you more than anything. You were his best friend, who never missed an opportunity to tell embarrassing stories about him. Wherever you are, I hope you feel complete. We all still love you very much.
