Hobert L. Richards

September 07, 1943~January 07, 2024

Hobert Lane Richards peacefully gained his wings and took his heavenly flight on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 11:07 pm in New Port Richey, FL surrounded by his family. He was born in Logan County, West Virginia on September 7, 1943.

Hobert was a great God fearing man who read his Bible daily and could often be found on his knees praying. He loved to garden and brought smiles to a lot of faces when he shared the fruits of his labor; Many friends and neighbors ate those pole beans and tomatoes he grew. He just had a beautiful way of making you feel like the most important thing happening at that moment.

He was a carpenter and built many things from houses to furniture. Hobert liked to share his skills with those in need and was always willing when he was able.  Hobert loved to love others and was a true reflection of God’s love, grace and mercy. He loved the outdoors and fishing as well. He shared that love with anyone who wanted to tag along. It was always a special time.

His greatest love was with his wife Robbie, whom he shared a beautiful 38 year marriage with, and they were soulmates to the end. Their love transcends time. No matter what life presented to them, they stood with each other  and Hobert will be waiting for her in heaven.  They shared two children along their journey. Misty shares his love of ice cream and reading. Lane is a mini version of his father and shares his love of learning and  family. He raised both of them to be Godly and hardworking reflections of himself. They make him very proud daily.

Hobert is redeceased in death by his parents, brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife Roberta (Robbie) Richards, a son, Hobert Lane Richards Jr., a daughter, Misty Rivera, a daughter in law, Maria Rivera, a son in law, Jeffrey Hurley, a granddaughter, Summer Rae Hurley, one brother, two sisters, and many nieces and nephews.

Hobert should be remembered as he was, a great Man of God,a devoted husband, a father and a sibling. To those who knew him, they were blessed to have experienced his sense of humor as well as his wisdom which he had plenty to share.

His final wish was to be back in church with Pastor Scott and then home with his family.  That wish will be honored on Saturday, January 13th at 11:00am at Crossroads Chapel, 1040 Tampa Rd. Palm Harbor Fl, 34653. Everyone is welcome to come show their respects. Thank you and God Bless.

I’ll never forget when he and mom got married he said he was marrying me too……I was a snotty, little, backwoods holler kid always caked in dirt. But, through the dirt, he was a princess. And I’ll be his little princess, even at 44 years old.

I love you dad
