James Donald Willsie, 82, of Lutz, FL passed away August 5, 2024 after a hard fought battle with Dementia.
Jim was born March 16, 1942 to Donald and Dorothy Willsie in Ontario, Canada. After graduating from Fort Erie High School in 1961, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he learned skills in computer programming and data processing. After leaving the Marines he used these skills working until retirement with IBM Although his career was in the computer industry, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. He could take a car engine apart, build anything out of wood, repair more than your average handyman, he even built an airplane in his garage. If something didn’t exist, he “invented” it – we called him MacGyver. He loved to be outside working whether doing yard work or helping a neighbor – I know mom wished he would do more inside the house! For 4 years he had a little “helper” under his wing as he and Joni watched their oldest grandson Tyler every day for 4 years. He built that kid toys, took him on adventures, kept him entertained and loved him like his own.
Jim leaves behind his wife Joan, and 3 children and their spouses – Todd Willsie (Jeannie), Tracy Willsie (Ken) & Tammi Sells (Duane). He also leaves 3 grandchildren – Tyler, Jack & Logan and 2 sisters – Carol Ann & Gail.
Services will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 1:00 at Dobies Funeral Home in Tarpon Springs, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice.
