In Loving Memory of James Leroy (Jim) Diefenderfer
July 28, 1941 – May 7, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James Leroy (Jim) Diefenderfer of New Port Richey, Florida. Jim passed away on May 7, 2025, at Trinity Hospital, surrounded by love.
Born July 28, 1941, in Mercer, Pennsylvania, Jim grew up embracing the values and joys of life on the farm. After graduating high school, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, beginning a life of service and dedication. His long and distinguished career in law enforcement culminated with his retirement from the Florida Highway Patrol in 1997.
Jim was a man of quiet strength, genuine warmth, and a twinkle in his eye that said more than words ever could. His kindness was effortless, and his smile—especially the one in his eyes—made others feel at ease and at home.
He is survived by his sons, James (Stacey) of Utah and Mark (Joelle) of Florida; his sisters, Sally and Trudy of Georgia; his daughter-in-law Allison and grandsons Nick and Sam Madden of Florida; and his dear sweet girlfriend Pamela Madison. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who brought joy to his life and who were equally enriched by his presence.
Jim embraced life fully. Whether bike riding, traveling, reading, or enjoying good music and dancing at the VFW, he found happiness in simple pleasures. He especially relished picking on his younger sister Sally.
A graveside service will be held to honor Jim’s life on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Lutz Cemetery.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness, a life well lived, and will be deeply missed.
