Janet was born in Syracuse, NY on October 1, 1945. She was the daughter of the late Gaylord and Ellen Monagle and lived in Liverpool, NY. She graduated from Liverpool High School and was employed by the Herald-Journal and was featured on the front page of a Daylight Savings Time paper pointing at a clock.
Janet married David R. Buchwalter and they moved to Auburn, NY when IBM transferred David there. She loved the years in Auburn where Richard D. was born.
IBM transferred them to Watertown, NY and Janet found a part time job at a small motor plant until Carol Ann was born. She did not like living there and was glad when David was transferred to the Syracuse area and loved living in Liverpool, NY again.
Janet’s favorite song: He Lives; Favorite Bible verse: Psalm 1:1 & the book of Daniel; favorite color was green and favorite food was chocolate and more chocolate and her recipes for chocolate chip cookies, chocolate ice cream cake roll, and brownies.
Janet accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior during David Wilkerson’s meeting.
She worked at Equifax for a few years and found a job she liked better at Royal insurance until retiring and moving to Florida. Janet would often be found reading her “Daily Bread” and Bible. She was a member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary for over 23 years serving in many capacities. She volunteered at Teen Challenge, The Billy Graham Crusade, and was the Pre-school Director at FBC-NPR for over 10 years. She served Heritage Lake, Williamsburg community in many capacities including Sunshine Lady, and wrote monthly articles in the Heritage Lake magazine.
Janet was happiest when decorating the house and sending hundreds of cards and notes of encouragement to friends and those in need. To say she loved dogs and other animals is an understatement and she supported them.
Surviving besides her husband are Richard D. of Liverpool, NY, and Carol Ann (Raymond) Matava of Clearwater, Florida. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother George P. Monagle.
Janet was a loving wife for over 56 years and mother and was loved by all that knew her. She is sorely missed.

Janet was a loving, kind, caring and compassionate individual. She was a good cook and always made you feel very welcome and comfortable when you were in her home. We will miss her.
