Janet G. Huber

Janet G. Huber

September 24, 1950~October 02, 2023

Janet Gail Huber, 73, of Hudson, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 2, 2023 with her daughters by her side.

She was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 24,1950. In 1973, at just 22 years old, she came to Florida and built a life with her girls, Karrie and Kellie, and many dear family members and friends. In 1982 she met her future husband, Ken, and soon after their marriage welcomed a third daughter, Kenie. Together, they built a beautiful life in the greater New Port Richey community full of boating, festivals, family, friends, neighbors, and community service.

Jan was one-of-a-kind. A problem-solver, a wonderful host, creative, and unforgettable. A favorite reminder she shared with herself and others was “strong like bull”, a phrase she recited over and over as she fell ill with cancer in August of 2021. She went on to live two more years in relatively good health thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Moffitt Cancer Center–and the many friends and family members that showered her with support throughout her journey.

She is predeceased by her parents, Albert and Thelma, her second daughter, Kellie, and her husband, Ken. She is survived by her first and third daughters, Karrie and Kenie, Karrie’s partner Derek, daughter-in-law, Catherine, and granddog, Heartly.

She will be loved, cherished, and remembered forever. When you miss her, just look at the moon and smile. It was her favorite thing.

In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting Moffitt Cancer Center or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The testament and lasting legacy of any parent is their children, and the type of person their child becomes. Knowing only Kenie, and the wonderful person she is, Janet must have been an amazing person and mom.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Your Mom was one of the very first friends I made when I moved to Florida . I’ll remember her fondly. I remember when Kellie and Paul had their first day of school together and crying at the bus stop. Mom told them to knock it off and get on the bus. How strong she was when Kellie became so sick. How Ken brought her back to life with his love. She was such a warrior. May God hold her in his loving arms.

Jan, you have been my best friend since we were teens. We both grew up in Allen Park, Michigan and both graduated from Allen Park High. We baked cookies together. We took the bus to Detroit to shop at Hudson’s. We went to church together. Then, one hot magical July night in 1969, we sat in my backyard and gazed at the moon as Neil Armstrong made a giant leap. We rang in the New Year of 2023 together on the phone, each watching fireworks and the moon from different states. We never ran out of things to talk and laugh about. I cherished every minute I spent with you. My whole family loved “Janet Gail.”

I will continue to look at the moon every night and remember the awesome friend that God sent into my life.

Give Kellie a hug for me.
With heartfelt sympathy to Jan’s entire family,
Gina Mikoryak Stevens

Jan, Ken and the girls were our neighbors across the street. They babysat our son Eric and became life long friends. I loved her wit, her smile and her laugh. Ken was such a compliment to her personality. They were fun, kind and endearing. Jan always made you feel safe and confident and was a fantastic hostess. She raised 3 beautiful girls with hearts of gold. Although it is with a very sad heart of her passing, I am grateful she has no pain. No doubt she ran into the arms of her loved ones waiting for her. She will never be forgotten and leaves her legacy of strong, independent and loving woman. Love you all!

Jan was a beautiful person both inside and out. Just look at this photo and it tells a lot. Despite her health struggles these past few years, she was positive and stayed strong. I just wish we had more time together. Jan and I grew up in Allen Park and graduated from Allen Park high school. We lived only one block away from each other and found each other when we were about 10 years old. We created a lot of memories together. Thank you so much Kenie and Karrie for keeping in touch with me. I appreciate you and am sorry for your loss.

Jan was a wonderful woman never afraid to tackle any issue. I remember her being a diligent co-worker as well as a person that would do you a favor just for the asking. She always talked about her girls when we’d bump into each other throughout the years. She really was one in a million and I know will forever be missed by her girls and friends.
