Joann Hattey “Joanie” was born Joann Eileen Draucker in Detroit Michigan on May 6, 1939. Joanie entered her eternal home on August 3, 2021, at the age of 82. Her parents were Robert and Leonora Draucker, and she was one of their 5 children. (Robert, Charles, Scharlene, and Rosalie.) In 1958, She married the love of her life, Ray Hattey, and together they had seven children. (John (Leslie Stallings), Linda (Don Stanley), Robert (Debbie), Donald (Devon), June (Vincent Scartz), David (Kerry Sefton), and Jeanne.) She was a born mother and homemaker, supportive, encouraging, and kind without any hesitation of sacrificing her needs for the good of her family. She became a grandmother, Sito, with the marriage of her daughter Linda to Don with his daughter, Michelle Stanley. Six more grandchildren would follow, (Donald Stanley, Daniel Stanley, Carley Scartz (Michael Nisbet), Joseph Grier, Benjamin Scartz, and Emily Hattey.) Last year she became a great grandmother to Rudy Nisbet. Her children and grandchildren where her whole life and she was proud of all of them. Joanie was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a beloved sister and daughter in law. Many would refer to her as “Saint Joanie” as she lived her life showing only love and kindness to everyone she met. Joanie was an animal lover but especially to her dog, Bo. In her later years she made many friends through Bo’s social life. Joanie was a beloved neighbor in every home she lived in. Volunteering at Sunset Hills Elementary School cafeteria brought her great joy for many years as the, “Ice Cream Lady.” She was a staple at all of her grandson’s baseball games. You would often see her working at a fundraiser carnival, Tarpon Springs Art Show, high school concession booth, and the Spring Bayou lambatha bag Christmas Eve presentation. Joanie will be remembered as a selfless, devoted wife and mother who always had a smile, even when times were tough. She had a quiet strength and never complained, always looking for the good in people and this world. Her Catholic faith was tireless until the moment God called her home. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray, infant brother, Robert, her sister Scharlene, and brother Charles.) She is survived by all of her children, grandchildren, and sister, Rosalie Zeh. A full funeral mass, open to the public, will be held on Saturday, August 7th at 1:00 pm at St. Ignatius of the Antioch Catholic Church in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Live streaming will be available 5 minutes before the mass for all that wish to join us at: st.ignatius.net. She will be laid to rest immediately following the mass next to her husband, Ray, at Cycadia Cemetery, Tarpon Springs. Our family believes it would be irresponsible of us to have a public viewing or reception at his time due to the Covid virus that took her life. In lieu of flowers, please pay an act kindness forward in any way you choose in her memory. That is how she lived her life and that would mean the most to her and to her family.

Sito was an incredible human being. She welcomed me into the family with open arms. When I got sick last year, she took the time to sent me care packages, and made sure I was doing well. She was truly an angel, she was so kind, genuine, and had a beautiful heart. Sito, I love you, thank you for sharing the world your kindness. We all need people like you in our lives. ♥️

On behalf of the many dog-walking friends you and Bo made at the park, we are all so sad and dismayed. Joann touched so many of us with her kindness and genuine concern as we shared day to day ups and downs. Her faith and positive approach to life was contagious! You are a lucky family to have had this beautiful woman in your lives. Good bless you all! Mary McAree-Lee

Aunt Joanne I remember the Sundays at Manhattan when you were so kind and loving to all of us nieces and nephews when we were all rug rats running around the house. As the years went by you were always the same, kind and considerate. I always knew that you would send me a birthday card even this past June. Thank you for being such a wonderful Aunt all these years. Rest In peace with Uncle Ray and please give him a hug for me.
Love you always

To the Hattey Family,
I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. She was the sweetest and best godmother. So genuinely kind and caring. All of my memories of her are of her smiling, encouraging, helping and ensuring everyone knew they are welcomed and loved. She was an inspiration and a blessing and I’m so heartbroken by the news.
I have fond memories of our families’ get-togethers – such fun times and fantastic food too! (I remember her delicious baked kibbeh and stuffed grape leaves – truly the best!)
May you rest in peace Joann. I love you and will miss you but feel so blessed and grateful to have known you.
Sending our love and prayers to all of you. Margaret and Ron Scozzari xoxo

Aunt Joanie was kindest person I have met on this globe. She always helped me grow as a person. She had a way of looking at any situation with kindness, caring and love . It is much harder to be kind than clever, and she was both. I will miss her very much. Pam too. We are so glad we were able to take her to lunch in 2020 while on a visit, and she always rolled out the red carpet for my annual overnighter in the blue room. Sympathies to my beautiful loving cousins.

I’m just hearing about the passing of Joann. She was the sweetest neighbor and it was a joy to live across the street from her for several years. She was always so kind and I loved chatting with her. We kept in touch through email once in a while and through cards. To all of her family, I’m very sorry for your loss.
