November 13, 1948~November 22, 2023

John Henry Marzulli, AKA Johnny Nines, Daddy Nines, Grandpa Nines, age 75, of Tarpon Springs, Florida, passed away in his home unexpectedly on November 22, 2023.

John was born on November 13, 1948 to June (Hickey) and Pascal (Pat) Marzulli in Morristown, New Jersey and moved to Largo, Florida at the age of five.  After graduating from Largo High School in 1966.  John went on to study business at Florida State University – Go Noles!

John is survived by his twin brother Pat (Martine) Marzulli (Indian Rocks Beach, FL), daughters Melody (Bryan) Ott (St. Augustine, FL), Kimberly (John) Breitling (Excelsior, MN) and his six adoring grandchildren Dillon Ott, Cody Ott, Abigail Ott, Sydney Breitling, Evan Breitling, and Emily Breitling.

John was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and those he loved, even the stray cat he fed every day. John’s family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something John often mentioned and showed through his attendance at countless sporting events, family holidays, and family trips.  He was even willing to brave the freezing Minnesota winter to be with Kimberly and her family or head to Colorado with Melody’s family on a ski trip – and John didn’t love the cold or skiing! There wasn’t much he wouldn’t do for his family.

John was passionate about fitness and martial arts and could often be found at one of the many gyms he belonged to when he wasn’t at home.  When he was visiting his daughters, a workout was always part of the tradition and a few boxing lessons with his grandchildren were often on the list of family activities too.

In addition to his passion for family, friends, and fitness, John had an equal passion for his work.  He treated Emerald Contractors like one of his children and he loved it dearly.  He made it his mission to provide high quality home building and remodeling to his customers.  He valued hard work, cared for each of his employees like they were family, and made a difference in the lives of those he worked with and for.

John may have been small in stature, but he lived big, felt big and loved like a giant.  He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

The family requests donations to  the Paralyzed Veterans of America Gulf Coast Chapter in leu of flowers.  There will be a joyful celebration of life on December 22, 2023, details will be forthcoming.

What an amazing life to celebrate! We were honored to call him our classmate and it was a privilege to visit with John. I had many great discussions with him about old times and memories of Tarpon Springs. He always wore a smile and a snappy outfit. Being a Dean Martin look-alike was a common observation. Hearing of his passing really rocked me. We sat at the same table at our last get together. I laughed and took some fun pictures of him before saying — See you soon!

I grew up with John as a neighborhood buddy in Valencia Park and school mate from Mildred Helms through high school. But it didn’t just stop there. John was a friend to everyone, always smiling, doing something funny, joking or even sharing a word of wisdom. You were never alone when John was in the room. His gift of loving was making everyone around him feel special.

A life lost too soon, but you left your mark by being an amazing son, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew you.
We had some fun times in Valencia Park and then reconnected in later years when you and Pat built our house in Palm Harbor.
My deepest condolences to the Marzulli family. May God give you comfort and peace and may John’s memories warm your hearts always.
Blessings,

I met John in May when he visited my brother, Jim Macholz when Jim was in hospice care. John was such a warm? Friendly compassionate person and I know his visit to zk meant a lot to my brother.

I remember John from kundalini yoga classes. We took a training together. He was such a joyful person to be in class with and very down to earth. He had a great sense of humor and made us all laugh with his improv acting skills during a few group activities. My condolences to his family. He was a wonderful, cheerful person to know. Sending my prayers to all of you.

I remember training with John at JPark and him telling me. Round house kick me in the legs, that all you got, kick hard. So, that night when I got home I had bruises on the top of my feet from round house kicking his legs. It was like kicking a tree. John taught me alot on boxing techniques. He was great with teaching my daughter Tori too! John you will be greatly missed. Much love and respect Kim Bradley and family.
