February 06, 1951~June 29, 2025

Joseph Thomas Rizzotto, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home in Tarpon Springs on Sunday, June 29, 2025.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on February 6, 1951, to Helen and Guy Rizzotto, Joe was raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he spent most of his life. He graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in history—a subject he loved deeply and continued to study throughout his life. While at UF, Joe was a proud member of Florida Blue Key, the university’s oldest and most prestigious leadership honorary. His involvement reflected not only his academic excellence, but also his commitment to service, tradition, and making a meaningful impact.

Joe went on to build a successful career as a car finance officer, known for his honesty, sharp mind, and generous spirit. He was the kind of person clients trusted and coworkers admired—steady, smart, and always willing to lend a hand.

A voracious reader and lifelong learner, Joe had an insatiable curiosity. He could speak knowledgeably on almost any topic, from world history to classic novels, and friends often called him a walking encyclopedia. He was also a passionate world traveler who believed that seeing the world was one of the greatest forms of education. His travels took him across continents, each journey adding depth to his perspective and joy to his life.

Joe was a devoted Florida Gators fan and never missed a Homecoming game. Saturdays in the fall were sacred, spent cheering on the Gators with unwavering loyalty and pride—not just as a fan, but as a proud alumnus. His love for the university remained strong throughout his life.

At home, Joe’s dinner table was legendary. Every meal was a gathering of minds and hearts—filled with laughter, great food, spirited debate, and unforgettable storytelling. He had a rare ability to turn even the most ordinary evening into something special. His stories were vivid, often hilarious, and always shared with heart and wisdom.

Joe is survived by his beloved son, Anthony Rizzotto, and his daughter-in-law, Kimberly Bailey. He is also lovingly remembered by his brother John, cousins Jimmy and Anita, and a wide circle of lifelong friends who became like family.

He lived with integrity, curiosity, and compassion. He was a man who believed in learning, listening, and living fully—and those who knew him will carry his memory forward with love and gratitude.

He is deeply missed, fondly remembered and always loved.

May you always be down in your easy chair. 🎶🕊️
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Tarpon Springs or St.Petersburg public libraries in his honor.

Dear Joe, Cook and I were lucky to have met you.
You were a great host. You were generous enough to open your home to us on several occasions. And the desserts were always amazing!!
6 months ago when I came to visit you, I shared my trip to the UK and you shared your own stories of the UK as well. You gave me all the tips if I were ever to return.
You always had such great stories of your travel adventures. Many times sharing the gift of travel and culture with Tony by your side. You were a great Dad who I know loved your son deeply.
You will be missed Joe. We are here for Tony. Tony and Kim miss you so much.
Rest in peace🕊

Joe,

You’ve shown such generosity of spirit over the years, especially in the way you’ve treated my sister.

My family and I are grateful for the light you’ve brought into our lives, even in small ways over Christmas desserts and funny stories. Your infectious laugh was always a highlight of our visits to your home.

Wishing you peace and comfort now and always. You are in our hearts.

May you rest now. 🕊️

We met Joe back in 1986 at Sutherland Toyota. We continued on in Tampa at Bob Wilson Dodge together for many years. In 1990, he introduced me to my future wife Tracy, and we married in 1991 still married with four daughters. I wouldn’t have what I have today if it weren’t for Joe. I will never forget him, as I’m always grateful to him. He’s gone way too soon, but may he rest in peace. We love you, Joe!
