Kevin Gerard LaHiff

February 25, 1952~April 08, 2020

68, born February 25, 1952 in Hoboken, NJ to the late Anne D. and John A. LaHiff of Fort Lee, NJ. Kevin passed away surrounded by his family April 8, 2020 after fighting a year-long battle with cancer. Kevin is predeceased by brothers Jack and Peter. He is survived by brothers Paul of Monmouth Beach, NJ and Vincent of Ft. Myers, FL, and sisters Dolores Kelly of Ft. Myers and Mary Woods of Wake Forest, North Carolina.

In the winter of 1979 Kevin and Lorraine (later to become his wife) loaded their belongings including 2 dogs and 2 cats and traveled to the gulf coast of Florida to begin their life together. On May 23, 1981 Kevin married his “dream girl” Lorraine (nee Laughlin) and together they raised 2 wonderful sons, Ian of Orlando, (his wife Megan and their expectant son); Quinn of St. Petersburg, (his wife Maya and sons Callum and Keiran). Kevin’s passion was his family, he was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, caring brother, adored brother-in-law and uncle, mentor to many and once-in-a-lifetime friend to all whose lives he touched.

Kevin was an avid boater, angler, master of hunting dogs, scoutmaster and wood craftsman. He had the uncanny ability to fix anything and was always present for anyone who needed him. He graced this life with the kindest, most gentle spirit. He was well loved by everyone; his quiet strength and dignity were the hallmark of his character. He was a great man whose impact will resonate forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name to the Tarpon Springs High School Leadership Conservatory of the Arts. http://www.tarponspringsband.com/donate/ (The Tarpon Springs Leadership for the Arts curriculum teaches students the skills of analysis and synthesis where students are encouraged to cross boundaries and are guided, with creativity and imagination, to be the most they can be.)

Due to COVID-19, a celebration of his life will take place at a future date.

Missed Kevin after he left the Plant. I understood he went to work for a lumber company and was very happy.
I will always remember Kevin as being responsible for my broken wrist, as a result from one of our many basketball games.

Dear Lorraine and Family, Norman was in shock, as he read this in the paper. We had no idea Kevin was so ill. We send our thoughts and prayers to uplift you, at this time. Kevin always had a smile on his face and joy in his eyes. He was a hard worker, making everything work, even when times were hard. Your two fine boys are a tribute to the both of you. Know that when we pass your house on our walks, we will lift you up, for strength and hope for the coming days ahead. Love, Judy and Norman
