Kimberly Colleen (Clanton) Kannard, known to her loved ones as Kim and to her students as Mrs. Kim, was born on January 13, 1964 in Mountain View, CA to Larry Jack Clanton and Judy Lynn (Harte) Clanton. She graduated from James Taylor High School in 1983. On December 22, 2009, she married James Roy Kannard Jr. Kim was preceded in death by her father, Larry, and her mother, Judy. She is survived by her husband, James, her seven children: Matthew Gunther, John Gunther, Lauryn Kannard, Christina Gunther, William Kannard, Nick Kannard, and William Gunther; her four siblings: Todd Clanton, Lisa (Clanton) Senn, Suzanne (Clanton) Gillespie, and Bart Broz; her many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews; and countless other extended family and friends.

Kim’s passion in life, above all else, was her love for Christ, her family and her friends. Her gentle passing on of God’s word was wrapped in her love of spreading joy and peace to everyone in her life, regardless of circumstances. The unconditional love she gave to her community was embodied by long days and nights spent helping those around her through happy and difficult times, while finding comfort through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Kim was a beloved administrative aide and teacher at Solid Rock Community School from 2004-2017. She bettered the lives of countless children and brought her intellect, compassion and love to her classroom every single day. Kim was blessed with an ability to identify each child’s exceptional needs and come up with a way to help them excel. Kim was also an accomplished businesswoman, having helped run and sell a wide variety of businesses including a restaurant, sandwich shop, exotic fish store, and a dog food delivery company. Kim last worked with her husband James at his Law Office, bringing their mutual passion for justice, fairness, and compassion to all of their clients.

Kim’s love for life inspired her to pursue party planning. Her beaming smile brought with it unforgettable experiences for the projects she worked on and for the people that experienced them. This same passion for life led her to become a writer, authoring poetry and books that expressed her unique experiences and perspective in life. Kim’s passion for party planning was inspired by her love of decorating, which was on display most vividly at her favorite holiday, Christmas. Her loving, warm attention to detail brought the best out of the holiday season and always gave honor to the birth of Christ, while selflessly giving boundless joy to everyone around her.

Kim always said that she couldn’t wait to be called to heaven. This was evident in one of her favorite Bible Verses, John 14:2, which says, “In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” We have no doubt, that she’s there today, and that she’s probably busy redecorating mansions to help prepare a place for those of us who will be following after her.
