August 09, 1951~July 14, 2025

Larry Stephen Schields was welcomed into the arms of Jesus—taking a piece of our hearts with him—on Monday, July 14, 2025, at the age of 73. A beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Larry leaves behind a legacy that will live on for generations to come.

He is survived by his firstborn, loving daughter, Melanie Holland, a USAF veteran (Mike); grandchildren, Madison Cox, Cameron Holland (USAF Airman), Luke Holland (USAF Airman), and Sara Holland; and great-grandchildren, Kayden and Kyler Cox.

He is also survived by his adoring son, best friend, and protégé, Stephen Schields; Desiree Carver (Keenan), whom he loved and treated as his own, and her daughter, Harper; and Michael Leepow (Taylor), who remained family in his heart, along with Michael’s daughter, Madison.

Larry was preceded in death and joyfully reunited in Heaven with his parents, Arnold J. Schields and Ethel Maltry Schields; his sister, Trinity S. Huber; and his brothers, Arnold (Skip) J. Schields Jr. and Randall J. Schields (who he’s probably fishing with at this very moment).

He will be remembered for his warmth and steadiness—making him the cornerstone for many— and his undying, sacrificial love for his family. He had a sentimental and giving heart, endless faith, a magnetic charm, and a treasure trove of motivational quotes and song suggestions (“Eye of the Tiger” being a family favorite). His “larger-than-life” presence followed him into every room, and his grit and tenacity were unmatched. These qualities not only brought him great success in his career but also became a lasting legacy passed down to his children and grandchildren.

Dad, we love you more than words can ever express, and we are forever grateful for the trail you blazed, making it easier for us to run our own race. A match was lit the day you were born—and although our world is darker without you in it, we will do our best to keep that flame alive.
