Leonard Bogumil died peacefully from complications of heart disease on Saturday, April 24, 2021 in New Port Richey, Florida. He is survived by his loving family. Wife Darlene, Daughter Linda Chaney, Son Jeffrey and Grandchildren, Taylor, Haille & Hunter.

He was preceded in death by his siblings Louise Tomko, Robert Bogumil, Shirley Bogumil, Jean Smith, and Walter Bogumil.

Leonard was born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, PA, born November 26, 1930.  The Son of Polish Immigrant parents Walter Bogumil and Anna Royzek Bogumil.

After graduating from GAR High School in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Leonard enlisted in the USAF.  He served as a B-47 co-pilot in the Strategic Air Command in Korean war times, followed by service with the New York Air National Guard.

Leonard worked with GE prior to a long career at United Air Lines rising to the rank of Senior Captain in command of Boeing 757/767 aircraft retiring in 1990.  He and his wife Darlene enjoyed their retirement as snowbirds living in their Brookfield, CT and New Port Richey, FL homes.

“Len” enjoyed coaching his son’s Pop Warner football teams, golfing, and flying his Beech Bonanza.

Funeral services have not yet been finalized to intern his ashes.  He will be deeply missed.  Messages of condolence can be left with Dobbie’s Funeral Home, New Port Richey.
